Laila Rouss - moving onto new things!

And you'll never guess what she has ditched primeval for!

And the nominations are:

Sarah Janes Adventures:

En route from Paddington to Cardiff, Valerie, the press officer for the series, issued a press release announcing that The Doctor (Matt Smith) would be appearing in one of the two-part episodes, alongside Laila Rouass – and Katy Manning, who played companion Jo Grant in the 1970s, just before Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen) took over. So cue some hasty re-writing of my questions!

Spooks:

Sophia Myles and Laila Rouass are joining the cast of ninth series of Spooks, which has just started filming in London. The new series of Spooks will introduce a host of new characters who shake things up and give cause for concern as Section D, once again, are left wondering exactly who can really be trusted

I suppose Spooks is worthy of Laila :P but to sink as low as the Sarah Jane Adventures. Although it may make the show better, having an actress of such standard as Footballers wives and primeval :)

New characters

In the interview with Robert Quinn, he mentioned three new Irish characters:
I can now reveal!

Briain Gleeson

Rory Keenan

Peter Hanley

The question: Hero or villain?
mwa ha ha ha (random)

New plot lines revealed!

In the interview with Robert Quinn he said:

"Well, without wanting to give the show’s away I can tell you that in one episode the creatures terrorises a lovely seaside village and in the other one they attack a beautiful castle which means, of course, that there’s lots of fun to be had in both those episodes. We’ll be using Luttrelstown castle and we’ve been shooting in Wicklow for the seaside-town episode."

Interview with Robert Quinn

Just found this interview on IFTN, gives some details on filming plans, new characters and plot lines!!!

IFTN: Hi Robert, when did you start shooting your episodes?
(RQ): We started shooting two weeks ago. Altogether this block is going to take about six months to shoot.

IFTN: How long do you have left in your block?
RQ: I’m shooting for another four weeks. And then we continue on until September with post.

IFTN: Were you a big fan of the series prior to becoming involved with the production?
RQ: I was actually, yes. I’d only seen a bit of it – I wasn’t the kind of person who would watch it religiously every week but I certainly tuned-in every now and then. I was delighted when I heard it was coming here, it’s great to get shows like this which have a track record.

IFTN: ‘Primeval’ has such a cult following, was that daunting at all?
RQ: Yes, it has a very broad range. It appeals to seven year olds and 47 year olds. And I think that’s down to the storylines and the scientific aspects of it – they mix up the science with good quality entertainment which is a good formula. I try not to feel pressure doing any show because you’d just drive yourself mad. When I was meeting with the producers in London the walls of the office were covered with fan mail from people of all ages – children, teenagers and adults all loving the show and I realised that this is something with a reputation that I need to maintain.

IFTN: Your involvement with the series marks a very different project to what you usually work on . . .
RQ: This is true. There were very few prehistoric creatures running around in ‘The Clinic’ for instance. It was a thrill to be asked to be involved because I’ve always wanted to be involved with a big CGI shoot and lots of other things that you just don’t get the opportunity to do over here really. And there’s a huge Irish contingent involved here which is fantastic and very exciting!

IFTN: And are the British cast and crew members having a good time here?
RQ: Of course, sure why wouldn’t they – the sun is shining! We were on silver strand the other day with the sun out and I thought to myself ‘This is a good a place to be working as any!’ They’re a very nice and professional cast and crew and the cast know their characters inside out – they know definitively what their respective characters would do in any given situation so all I have to do is work with that and around that. There’s very little that I can tell them about their roles that they don’t already know so you move into nuance then.

IFTN: Is it proving difficult to put your own individual stamp on your episodes whilst also respecting the established format of the show?
RQ: You try and bring something of yourself to everything that you do. That said there is, I wouldn’t say formulaic, but a Primeval promise that you have to adhere to. The formula has been set up by the opening key director, Mark Everest and he set up the style of the show. DOP Donal Gilligan has a specific style of shooting as well which I feed into too. It would look very odd if I tried to set a new style or approach to telling the story, so you keep to the set style but you try to make your scenes as fun as possible too - there’s a great deal of humour in this show, it’s not just about creatures running around biting the heads of various people, there’s a brilliant tongue-in-cheek element to it. And if there’s an Irish humour or sensibility that I can bring to it, I will. We’ve got great actors here like Ben [Miller], Andrew [Lee-Potts] and Hannah [Spearritt] – and they know comedy and how best to use it in their parts. And then of course we have brilliant Irish actors involved too like Ruth Kearney and Ciaran McMenamin and we’re going to be working with Peter Hanley who’s a great comic. And of course Rory Keenan is coming on board and Briain Gleeson so I’m really pleased that the Irish crew, and particularly the Irish cast members, can feed into this predominantly English production and make it work as best as they possibly can – and I don’t think the audiences will skip a beat when they see the Irish actors working within it.

IFTN: Can you let us know what’s happening in you episodes at all, without giving anything too major away?
RQ: Well, without wanting to give the show’s away I can tell you that in one episode the creatures terrorises a lovely seaside village and in the other one they attack a beautiful castle which means, of course, that there’s lots of fun to be had in both those episodes. We’ll be using Luttrelstown castle and we’ve been shooting in Wicklow for the seaside-town episode.

Primeval Website.

Just came across this website:

http://primeval.tv/

Not sure if it is official because they usually only have a little mini-site off of www.itv.co.uk

As i say this could be fan-based and i am not sure how long it has been up for, could be really old, i have just never come across it before.

PRIMEVAL FILM CONFIRMED!

I'm sorry if this is old news but, after hearing a lot of rumours and not much confirmation, i stumbled across this article from the morning starr: http://www.themorningstarr.co.uk/2009/05/15/primeval-movie-update/
Which says that Warner Bros. have announced that they will be producing a film adaptation of the "ITV dinosaur show Primeval"
Should be good !

Siddig in Flemyng out?

An article from the morning starr: http://www.themorningstarr.co.uk/2010/04/07/primeval-siddig-in-flemyng-out/ is claiming that Flemyng, who plays Danny Quinn, will not be returning to Primeval.

This came after news that Siddig (new character named Philip Burton) will be playing the new leader of the team. As well as the fact that Jason Flemyng was not mentioned as part of the returning cast in the latest press release, (although it is believed that Danny will be in a submarine whilst being attacked by a creature - from a script extract that was revealed on camera.)

I personally think that the producers bring characters in and out far too much, but the absense of Danny might add another dose of excitment to the show.

HELEN CUTTER TO RETURN?

Juliet Aubrey has confirmed her interest in returning to Primeval next year.

Though her villainous character Helen Cutter appeared to be killed off in the series three finale, Aubrey told Wired that she would be surprised if viewers did not see the time traveller again. The actress commented: "I don't think anyone can really 'die' in a world like [Primeval's]. I'm sure she'll return to the show as it moves forward. I hope so, because she was such a joy to play."

Asked if she has been approached by producers, she replied: "I've heard some rumours, but that's all. I'm waiting to see with all of the fans.

"Primeval was recently granted a surprise renewal for two new series under a new co-production deal between ITV, UKTV and international broadcasters. The sci-fi hit had originally been axed in June.

Discussing the revoked decision to scrap the programme, Aubrey said: "It came as a huge surprise to all of us. Especially since the show was doing well and was so popular. I heard from so many fans who loved Primeval and loved Helen that they just couldn't understand [the cancellation]."They really care about the show and [its characters]. I've been in television series in the past, but there's a level of excitement around Primeval that I haven't experienced before."

Torchwood

I know this is irrelevent to Primeval, but its really exciting news for all Doctor Who and torchwood fans!

INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP SECURES NEW SERIES OF TORCHWOOD
Key cast - John Barrowman (Capt. Jack), Eve Myles (Gwen) – to return for the next installment, along with new faces
Monday 7th June 2010
BBC Cymru Wales, BBC Worldwide and US premium entertainment network, Starz Entertainment, have today announced a three way co-production partnership that will develop a new series of the hit BBC sci-fi drama Torchwood. BBC Worldwide will also distribute the series to broadcasters globally.
The 10-episode instalment will be written by a team led by Torchwood creator, Russell T Davies, and produced by BBC Worldwide Productions. Davies and BBC Worldwide Productions’ SVP Scripted, Julie Gardner, return as executive producers with BBC Worldwide Productions EVP Jane Tranter. The series has been commissioned by Controller BBC ONE, Jay Hunt, Controller BBC Drama, Ben Stephenson, and Starz President and CEO, Chris Albrecht.
While previous series were based on location in Cardiff, Wales, this new instalment will see storylines widen to include locations in the U.S. and around the world. John Barrowman and Eve Myles will return in their roles as Captain Jack and Gwen respectively, along with new faces.
Announcing the commission, Ben Stephenson, Controller, BBC Drama Commissioning said: "We have a long history of working with many U.S. networks but it is incredibly exciting to be working with Starz for the first time, as well as to be reunited with the best of British in Russell, Jane and Julie. Torchwood will burst back onto the screen with a shocking and moving story with global stakes and locations that will make it feel bigger and bolder than ever"
Jane Tranter, EVP, BBC Worldwide Productions, added: "Torchwood has attracted remarkable attention and loyalty in both the UK and U.S., and in this new partnership with Starz, the next chapter will not only reward our current fans, but also introduce new viewers to the most impressive instalment yet."
"We're committed to programming exceptional television that is entertaining, imaginative and provides a premium TV experience, and by any measure the new concept for Torchwood fits that mandate," Starz, LLC, President and CEO Chris Albrecht said. "I've been part of successful partnerships with Jane Tranter and the BBC previously, and I'm very much looking forward to working with them again."
Torchwood is a drama that puts extraterrestrial threats into a very real world, and asks how humanity deals with the danger - while fighting human's darkest instincts. The series was originally commissioned and produced in 2006 by BBC Cymru Wales, with the latest high octane series capturing UK audiences of more than 6 million.
BBC Worldwide has distributed previous Torchwood series around the world to territories such as Korea, Japan, Italy, Spain, Israel, Russia and across Latin America.

Notes from series 3 Finale

Just watched the final episodes of Series 3 on YouTube.
Cliffhangers:
- A few mentions of Claudia Brown, but not much of an explanation. (bit disappointing)
- Sarah and Becker in the warehouse: Sarah has an "idea"
- Connor (with broken/ badly sprained ankle) with Abby in a tree in the critacious.
- Danny in the Pliocene after narrowly missing an anomaly.
Can't wait to see how they explain all this in series 4/ 5. :)

Primeval Film?

I've been hearing rumours lately that there will be a Primeval spin-off based in America, and/or a Primeval Movie!

The Possible "Primeval Film" is an American feature film said to be in the makings. It is rumoured that Impossible Pictures will be working with Warner Bros. film company to produce this film. The American Spin-off show has apparantly been suggested by Tim Haines (one of the Primeval creators)

Will this ruin the much loved British Primeval? What do you think? Let me know on the CBOX --->

Plot Spoiler!

A small part of a script, revealing part of a story line, was shown on camera in an interview with Adrian Hodges, one of Primeval's creators.

The part of script shown, although hard to make out, describes a scene in which Danny Quinn is ambushed by a Pliosaur (or "pod of Pliosaurs) in a Submarine. Exciting stuff! It is rumoured that he will only appear in 3 episodes of the up-coming series.

Thanks to the owner of this video for finding this information. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7WmvEBq0DI

In another interview, Hodges said "Obviously there’s a question of, at the end of the last season, three major characters were stuck in the past. So a lot of the first two episodes is going to be about how some of them at least get back." The word "some" is interesting here.
He also says "There will be an aspect of the future in it, which is new for us." "Well, if you think of the future predators from other [sci-fi] series, we’re going to have a kind of variation on that idea. There may also be some human intervention from the future as well." This is very interesting.

NOW HOLD ON TO YOURS SEATS! - on the subject of Danny Quinn. Hodges says: "We’re going to move it on pretty fast. Jason won’t necessarily come back at the beginning of the season. We’re going to hold back his reappearance, but that will be shooting from March. We have the first five episodes written, so we’re shooting in March."

So a lot of excitement! I personally can't wait!

If you would like to distribute this information, please give credit to me. Because I'm great :P

Sad News

Laila Rouss will NOT be returning as Sarah Page in Series 4/5 of Primeval. The actress said that it would not be possible to complete 10 months of filming in Dublin with her three year old child.
Sarah Page finished series 3 with an "idea" that the audience never found out. Will this idea cause her downfall? Will she be lost in an anomaly too?, will she be killed of by a creature?, will she be promoted (unlikely) or will she simply leave?
If they can find a suitable story, i think they can pull this off well.
that Connors friend Duncan (played by James Bradshaw) is set to return to the show. I do not think this is a good idea, he was better as a minor character and i do not think he would be very useful for the ARC team. I can only picture him returning as someone who tries to reveal the ARC team to the public, but this has already been done.

More Filming.

New character Matt in persuit of a creature?

New characters Matt and Jess, looking quite close.

Abby and Becker, behind the scenes banter.

Filming Pics.

Picking up where we left off: Connor (above) stuck in the Cretaceous period with Abby. Wearing the same clothes as epsiode 3:10. Conner now has a beard and Abby's hair has grown quite a lot since series 3. (below)

Misunderstanding? Looks like Becker gretting Abby and Conner (above) after they are ambushed by soldiers (below)

Attempted get away? before or after the pictures above?

ARC soldiers with weird looking guns.

Captain Becker.

New Character!

New Chacracter: Philip Burton. He is a charismatic scientist who helps James Lester in his role in the Anomaly Research Centre, when the government loses faith in Lester. He becomes the partial owner of the ARC. He will be portrayed by Alexander Siddig.

New Character!

New Character: Jess. She will be portrayed by Ruth Kearney. She is unconventional, highly efficient and organised and is in charge of running operations at the ARC Control Centre. Her work ethic is second to none, though she is human enough to nurse an unrequited crush on Captain Becker.

New Character!

New Character: Matt. He will be portrayed by Ciarán McMenamin. He is the new field leader, and is more than just an ex-soldier; he’s a zoologist, with an uncanny ability to understand animals. A private man, Matt carefully guards the secrets of his past - and the real reason he has joined the ARC team. Will he turn out to be a villain?

Layout!

The Banner at the top shows all the current characters (series 1 - 3) and their current status.
Grey = deceased. Blue = Lost in Time. Washout: Unknown. Brown: Resigned. Ryan, Cutter and Stephen are deseased. Conner, Abby and Danny are lost in time. Claudia Brown is unknown and Jenny Lewis resigned. This will be updated regularly.
